Waiting Game
Tuesday, March 21 We decided to offer $15,000 over asking price plus we pay half of closing. We got a call, finding out that it was either us or someone else for buying Englewood Charm. Many of the houses we were looking at in Sandy, Estacada, Damascus, and Milwaukee were listed at $250,000 or more. We didn’t want to be a slave to our home mortgage and had to find something more affordable. That’s why we started to look in Salem. Move in ready houses in Salem were starting at $200,000 or less and that was affordable for us. Plus John agreed on commuting to work, nearly 100 miles a day, so that we can purchase a more affordable house and not be a slave. This house was listed at $180,000 and we were going to offer $190,000, but then upped it to $195,000 after our realtor advised we should offer the highest we could.
